Program Description

Event Details

This event is an educational and interactive event for girls in grades 4th through 8th. For the first part of the program, we will be learning about the history and background of freedom of speech, book banning, and censorship. We will discuss these topics through history but also in the present day. The remainder of the program will be like a classic book club discussion with a banned book theme. The two books that we will be discussing are “Charlotte's Web” and “Are You There God, It’s Me Margaret.” To participate in the program it is NOT required to have read the books, but it is encouraged. This event is part of Catie Hardesty’s Gold Award “Freed Books = Freed Thinking.”
