Meetings

Boyd County Public Library District Board of Trustees meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 4:30 pm. The location rotates through the branches for each meeting. All meetings are open to the public. Please contact the Library Director at (606) 329-0090 or director@thebookplace.org for more information.

Boyd County Public Library is seeking applications for a vacancy on the Board of Trustees.

Any resident of Boyd County is eligible to apply and is encouraged to do so. The library
is looking for applicants from both cities and the unincorporated areas of the county in
an effort to serve all of residents effectively.

The Board encourages motivated professionals within the county to submit an application.
The Board of Trustees oversees the operation of Boyd County Public Library District in
accordance with KRS 173.725. The Board includes five Boyd County residents who are
appointed by the Judge-Executive and approved by the Fiscal Court. Each Board
member may serve two four-year terms. The Board sets policy, approves budgets, and
oversees the Library Director. Meetings are held at each Branch at least once a year.
All meetings are open to the public.

Governance

Boyd County Public Library is governed by a five member Board of Trustees. Trustees are residents of Boyd County and appointed by Boyd County Judge-Executive with the approval of Boyd County Fiscal Court. Members serve a four year term and may be reappointed to one additional four year term. Trustees serve without compensation.

The Board is governed by the Kentucky Revised Statutes (Libraries Districts Formed by Petition, KRS 173.710-173.800), its own Bylaws, and the policies that it sets. Board members are responsible for the overall governance of the Library.
