A joint committee of representatives from BCPL and the Highlands Museum & Discovery Center has developed a partnership agreement that is mutually beneficial, while meeting the mission of the Library. The agreement, which has not yet been finalized by both organizations, spells out ways the library and museum can partner and collaborate over the next five years. Starting this month, BCPL card holders can now check out electronic books – and the device to read them on. The Library has five Nook Colors, each loaded with a variety of book titles, available for checkout. Three of them contain best-selling fiction; one has non-fiction; and one has young adult titles. E-books are shaking up the publishing world, as their popularity continues to increase. Amazon.com now consistently sells more Kindle e-books than print books.
