We are excited to be partnering with the Highlands Museum & Discovery Center on several fun events during our summer reading program this year.

All the events mentioned here will be held at the museum, 1620 Winchester Ave. Participants in summer reading (children, teens or adults) can pick up a ticket at any library branch good for free admission for themselves and a guest. The tickets will be available in the week prior to the event.

First up is “Creatures of the Night,” on Saturday, June 9, at 2 p.m. It takes a look at caves and their inhabitants, including bats. Participants will create a craft with bats in their natural habitat to take home.

The next program (for children) at the museum is “STARLAB Planetarium,” on Saturday, July 14. This one gives and in-depth look into the stars, planets and other bright objects of the universe. It is held inside an inflatable portable planetarium.

BCPL is also sponsoring two events at the museum as part of “Between the Covers,” the adult summer reading program. They are “Introduction to the Solar System,” on Aug. 23, and “Nightscapes” photo exhibit, throughout August.
