More than Redbox

Gone is the day of the video store. Now all you see are oversized “red” boxes outside your local supermarket. I have never used one of these “red boxes” but I am sure the convenience of getting a movie after you grocery shop for an all-in-one shopping experience is just that, convenient.kellie nunley fall 2013

What do you do, though, when you want something more than a new release? I’ll tell you what; stop by Boyd County Public Library!

Yes, we have the new mega hits, but more important we have just about everything else. We have old black and white movies, foreign films, and all those classics movies that you loved in your youth now you can share them with your children on movie night. Who doesn’t love Ferris Bueller’s Day Off or Ghostbusters? Miss the X-Files TV show? We have that! Remember when Don Johnson was cool? You can relive the days of Miami Vice, take a trip on The Love Boat, or journey to Fantasy Island, all with one stop at the Library.

We also carry new TV shows, so if you missed the last season of Big Bang Theory, Duck Dynasty or CSI we can help you catch up. Can’t get enough reality TV? We can hook you up with Ice Road Truckers, Survivor, Ghost Hunters, Pawn Stars, Paranormal State, American Chopper and much, much more.

There is also a collection of media just for children: Disney movies, enough Scooby-Doo for hours of entertainment, and, of course, Barney. You can also check out all the Dora the Explorer movies and TV episodes, Transformers, and Lego Star Wars.

We have all your holiday favorites, too. For Halloween you can go back to Crystal Lake, Elm Street or enjoy the Little Shop of Horrors one more time. When Christmas rolls around (it will be here before you know it!) you can laugh with The Christmas Story and Christmas Vacation, or enjoy the classics like White Christmas or Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

Another part of our media collection is the music genre, which includes concerts and videos. Never got to see Nirvana or Pink Floyd in concert? Now you can! Turn your family room into a concert hall for an evening and rock out with The Eagles, Beach Boys, U2, Taylor Swift, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Mumford and Sons, AC/DC, Pitbull or the Rolling Stones – just to name a few.

Experience the video collections of Beyonce or Michael Jackson, or my personal favorite – video idols from the 80s.

The best part about all of this and everything inside the Library is it’s FREE with your Boyd County Public Library card. The library carries something to entertain patrons of all ages and tastes. If by chance we don’t have what you are looking for we will be happy to take your request so you can be the first to check it out when it comes in. Stop by any branch today and check out your favorites of yesterday and today.
