The Minnie Winder Genealogy & Local History Room
The department houses the largest genealogical collection in the Tri-state and Eastern Kentucky. The collection consists of over 6,000 print volumes, 2,500 periodical issues and over 6,200 rolls of microfilm.
The Collections have grown over the years to encompass Eastern Kentucky and the Tri-state area. The Collection also covers those areas where the local residents migrated from, namely Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina.
The genealogy staff provides interlibrary loan service from various regional facilities including the Genealogical Society of Utah, (LDS), Ohio Historical Society, Virginia State Library and TN State Archives. Please ask the staff about specifics and costs of film rental.
Computer stations for Genealogy research are available in the room as well as free wireless internet. They accept flash drives as well as all popular memory cards.
