Join a book club in 2013

No matter what your literary taste, Boyd County Public Library probably has a book club to match it. We’ve made a few changes to our book clubs in 2013, trying to respond to what patrons have requested. The clubs meet every month, except December, and titles are provided at least a month in advance. Story times in 2013

Patrons spoke, and the library listened. Last fall’s move to uniform story hours for toddlers and preschoolers was not well-received by parents and caregivers, so Boyd County Public Library is switching back to its previous times. The 2013 story time programs include Toddler Time at the Catlettsburg, Main and Kyova branches; and Preschool Story Time at Main and Kyova. Red Lights

Red Lights stars Cillian Murphy and Sigourney Weaver as investigators of paranormal activity.  Robert DeNiro stars as Silver, a man who has become rich and famous because of his so called “paranormal” abilities.  DeNiro is always great and he’s why I watched this movie to begin with.  There is a great twist at the end that I saw coming but not until about halfway through.  I would definitely recommend it.

Great online stuff for kids

Here at BCPL, we just keep adding and adding to our collection of fun and educational electronic resources for kids. Everything on here is free. All you need is a library card (which is also free!). One of our newest, and coolest electronic additions is TumbleBookCloud. We have versions for elementary through high school readers.
