I am a recent discoverer of David Baldacci so when I had the opportunity to hear him at a conference luncheon I took it.  He was wonderful!  I laughed till tears rolled down my face from his hysterical story of George Bush Sr.  And I was uplifted by the philanthropic work he and his wife do.

For those of you who are already fans, I encourage you to visit his website and learn about the Wish You Well Foundation (http://davidbaldacci.com/philanthropy/listing/). It was set up by the author and his wife to combat illiteracy.  “The ability to read is the foundation for everyday life. Indeed, virtually none of the major issues we face as a nation today can be successfully overcome until we eradicate illiteracy.”

If you’ve never read any of his books, he writes primarily legal/political suspense thrillers but has a few other types of fiction as well.  They are well written, have great characters, and are believable.  One of his most famous ones is Absolute Power which was made into a movie starting Clint Eastwood and Gene Hackman.

I highly recommend this great storyteller for a good read.  The library has many titles in paper and electronic formats.  Check it out.
