Abraham Lincoln…Vampire Hunter

This blog will usually be about movies I’ve seen, or you’ve seen, but my first blog has to be about one that hasn’t been released yet.

I went to the theater with some friends to see The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, a movie that was originally, a book. As we walked into the theater, there was a HUGE poster, you’ve seen them there advertising movies. It was a picture of Abraham Lincoln. I knew it was him of course, before I even read the words because everyone knows what he looked like, very tall and thin, wearing dark clothes and that tall hat. He was sitting on a wooden chair on a deserted country road with his hand on his hat. It was dark and there was a full moon in the sky. Then, I read the title “Abraham Lincoln…Vampire Hunter”. For those of you who don’t know me, I LIVE for this kind of thing, a really good, really interesting horror movie. From the title it could be really cheesy or really good.

I went back to work Monday morning and told some co-workers about it. One of them said, “Duh, I read the book.” The BOOK???? I work in a library. I should know this. I immediately checked it out and took it home to read. It took me two days. I could’ve read it in one but my supervisor frowns on napping at the circulation desk. I now know that this is going to be a wonderful movie if they stay close to the book. The book has illustrations, many of which I’ve seen in history books but the story is told with new additions to the old history.

The book is written by Seth Grahame-Smith and was released in 2010. If you like scary, or just plain interesting stories, I promise you will love it! If you haven’t read it, come check it out and read it before the movie comes out. The movie stars Ben Walker as Honest Abe but doesn’t have a release date yet.
