The Maze Runner series by James Dashner is so popular right now, and as a fan of the book series, I decided that it was time to discover other books written by the author. To my surprise, I found that Dashner has written other series in addition to The Maze Runner: The Jimmy Fincher Saga and The 13th Reality series, as well as a contributor to The Infinity Ring series. I’m such a huge fan of The Maze Runner I’m not sure how this information escaped me.  So, it was then that I decided to start at the beginning of Dashner’s career by reading the first book of The Jimmy Fincher Saga titled,  A Door in the Woods.

Needless to say, I was not disappointed!  The book begins by detailing an average day for the main character, Jimmy.  Jimmy decides to climb his favorite tree, unknowing that this action would set into motion a series of events that would forever change his fourteen year old life.  He witnesses a crime that he really doesn’t understand and is discovered by the perpetrator. From that moment on he begins the biggest and scariest adventure of his life.

This book is full of magic, mystery, plot twists, secrets, and most of all it is full of adventure!  I highly recommend that you take this thrilling ride with Jimmy. Like me, I’m sure it will have you sitting on the edge of your seat, unable to put this book down! There are four books total in The Jimmy Fincher Saga, and if you read the first one you will have to read the rest. I was so impressed by this book and previous works by James Dashner that he has become a staple on my list of must-read authors.

The Jimmy Fincher Saga, along with other Dashner titles, can be found at the Boyd County Public Library. Visit www.thebookplace.org or download BCPL Mobile to reserve a copy.
